Capacity Remuneration Mechanism (CRM): Practical guide for electricity market players in Belgium

In the first version of this book, co-authored with Luc Vercruyssen (Haulogy) and Christian Vermeiren (Variozo), Guy Block and Michel Vandersmissen present the essentials of the Capacity Remuneration Mechanism (CRM) as well as the obligations, opportunities and risks of this mechanism for the electricity market players in Belgium.

A CRM is an instrument to complement the energy markets with a capacity market that guarantees the availability of sufficient capacity to ensure electricity supply. It forms the basis for the future adequacy of energy security after the phase-out of nuclear energy in 2025.

The aim of this practical guide is to give an insight into the mechanism and to encourage producers, investors and bankers to dive in, study and profit from the CRM.
