Investment in renewable energy is a crucial part of the global strategy to address the climate change challenge. As economies around the world set legal targets for reaching net zero emissions, supporting the growth of renewables is a necessary step towards a decarbonised future.
However, with many large-scale renewable energy projects requiring significant up-front investment, and with regulations, subsidies and incentives designed to encourage this investment varying between jurisdictions, how can investors best protect their interests, while supporting the low-carbon transition?
In this session, our speakers will discuss the drivers behind the growth of renewables and how arbitration can be used as a key tool to protect long-term investments when faced with changing regulatory regimes that remove or scale back incentives. They will also look at how public private partnerships are used to finance larger scale energy and infrastructure projects.
